Port
PORT is a fortified wine: it has brandy added to it during its creation, resulting in a sweet, high-alcohol wine.
-Vintage Port has the richest, deepest flavor: lots of fruit balanced by alcohol and silky tannins.
-Tawny Port is brick in color and has spent a few years in contact with oak for a nutty flavor.
-Ruby Port has had the least time in contact with oak and is generally a fruit-forward port with a little spice.
Port is generally served as an after dinner drink. Its rich, sweet flavor is a good companion to chocolate and the powerful flavors of blue cheese.
PAIRS WITH rich desserts, blue cheese and cigars.
