Beef: Braised

If the food is braised in a red wine, usually that same wine is a great match for the food. For example, Red Burgundy and Malbecs are good partners for whiny braised beef dishes such as Beef Bourguignon.  A gamey or highly flavored dish like osso buco generally needs a big full wine to go with it. For example, an Amarone has an extraordinary jam/berry flavor wrapped in a velvet glove which can keep up with the flavors of the osso buco. A Brunello di Montalcino would also be a great partner to this meal.
